Elves began it, of course, waking trees up and teaching them to speak and learn their tree-talk. They always wished to talk to everything, the old Elves did. But then the Great Darkness came, and they passed away over the Sea, or fled into far valleys and hid themselves, and made songs about days that would never come again. Never again.

Would elves be surprised that modern Humans discovered how to space travel? Or be like “no one can travel in space”.

Buddy!:

But they took Vingilot, and hallowed it,
and bore it away through Valinor to the uttermost rim of the world; and there it
passed through the Door of Night and was lifted up even into the oceans of
heaven.

Now fair and marvellous was that vessel made,
and it was filled with a wavering flame, pure and bright; and Eärendil the
Mariner sat at the helm, glistening with dust of elven-gems, and the Silmaril
was bound upon his brow. Far he journeyed in that ship, even into the
starless voids; but most often was he seen at morning or at evening, glimmering
in sunrise or sunset, as he came back to Valinor from voyages beyond the
confines of the world.

I am sure they were pretty gung ho about people traveling in space.

As for modern humans…..

Eärendil: Son, we’ve been mucking around in space every night for like 8,000 years now and I can tell you’re mostly just indulging me but really if you don’t care for it you don’t have to–

Irmo/Lórien kisses the young elf Galadriel on the brow, granting her a dream of Lothlórien.

Loose sketch of an illustration I may or may not finish ever. If I ever do get to it, it would definitely play up the lovely purple+gold scheme, lots of dark vs. light etc. I’m not sure what my design for Irmo would actually end up being though – he’s a weird Vala to place. Even if he is the patron of dreams, his realm is described as very dark and as invoking eternal sleep (but also rejuvenation?). To me he feels very much like a classic faerie – dark and fantastical.
