oh shit I’m so sorry that sounds utterly debilitating

Not debilitating thank god but really REALLY disruptive because the pains are so completely random and unconnected to anything you do or any direction you move or anything else that allows you to get used to an injury-related pain -_-

GOD, sympathy fistbump. and i was told mine is a relatively mild case – can’t imagine what a severe case feels like 😐

there used to be a coffee shop like this near me and then they had a water pipe explosion and couldn’t afford to repair it so they had to sell the building and it’s a hipster beer establishment now and I’m still upset

UGH….unfortunately ‘hipster beer establishment’ is ALSO an Extremely Common Vermont Occurrence but fortunately this shop has been able to stick around a long time……

I was going to say that I’ve been in worse ones, but then I remember just how many people I have blocked.

I’ve been in ones i disliked more, but the sheer breadth and depth of whatthefuckery in New Star Wars fandom is headspinning, and I’ve been in a lot of fandoms in the past 11 years

Ok you are DEFINITELY RIGHT but also i was thinking a lot about the baffling Faramir thing

actualmermaid

“Opened a book once” = BOOK NERD. “Mentioned next to a flower once” = AVID GARDENER. “Was sad once” = ALWAYS SAD ALL THE TIME.

But it’s so much MORE befuddling when there’s like 28 major explicit canon scenes/descriptions/details/contextual dynamics that are THE EXACT OPPOSITE of that and like 1 ambiguous thing that might have been a dubious detail in support of that characterization IF AND ONLY IF they were a character with no other distinguishing features whatsoever. Also i’ve gotta say this fetish for this 1 specific type of character – the super insecure people-pleasing doormat stuttery….thing – is imo something that goes far above and beyond the generalized sledgehammery fanon thing.

Ambiverts(people who’s affiliation shifts based on context) are the VAST majority of us! Stop using labels and self identification to limit your potential!

THIS IS VERY TRUE, thank you!!!! actually I think i would be much more accurate in describing myself this way more than pure introvert (tho def leaning more towards the introvert side).

In Numenor, the Narn i Hin Hurin was adapted into a cycle of plays that were performed yearly and which had a Not-so-subtle symbolic (though not literal) conflation of Tol Morwen with Numenor.

There were also many offshoot operas, dances, artworks, etc, focusing on expanding one element or episode of the Narn and building up a very dense and elaborate system of idioms and visual references that became so ubiquitous that without context (say, if you were from a culture who wasn’t familiar with the Narn and therefore didn’t know the significance of a black weapon, a tool that talks, a hight above a rushing river, a chair from which one could have a far view, nakedness in the wild, a staring contest, a death by upright impalement, a prick of the foot, a shivering attack), a fair amount of numenorean literature, art, and discourse would have parts that were pretty baffling.

intense, moving insight both into the  into elrond’s life and

lol yeah in germany we only say hello in small villages where most people know each other anyway, or sometimes when on a walk in a forest or smth (but not always!). that’s not so different from slavic countries though, it’s just actually important to greet people in villages over there but not in cities either

yeah tbh we don’t do it in crowded areas in the city (’’’’city’’’’) where ppl are walking around a lot etc either, but you DEF do it when u sit down next to someone!

elesianne replied to your post: “@radiantanor when I first moved out of Vermont to go to college in a…”

I know you probably weren’t looking for any serious insights, but the way I’d put it is that Europe (northern, central & eastern anyway, southern Europe is different) is a place where allowing other people space & quiet is seen as as more normal & also polite than engaging them. That said, people who pass each other on country roads usually greet each other. But only in the countryside in my experience

WOW OKAY i did not realize aragorn and arwen cosplaying their great-great-great-grandpa and -grandma was a WIDELY-ACCEPTED KINK but i am v glad other people agree with me! anyway yes if he and arwen didn’t have as much fun as possible in between Kinging Stuff what’s the point. The controversial question, I think, is if they ever dragged anyone into their games to play Finrod and/or Sauron

akjdfskb while spending this entire day editing said (actually real life, non-train track) essay, i remembered a few more details about this dream that i didn’t recall back when @imindhowwelayinjune asked: like, it was a big hurry to get to this one rendezvous room ‘on time’ at intervals to coordinate with the guys, and it was like this hushed secret thing, like i would RUN INTO THE ROOM and lie down on the carpet and hike up my (inexplicable uniform??) skirt and all the guys were like, 40 or 50 years old, but in these fancy suits and all rich-looking, so the whole thing had very much a vibe of like, getting illicit kickbacks from the mob, but in the form of dick instead of money

This is super interesting brooding to me! I
think his cruelty towards the Shire and Frodo is also specifically about
Gandalf. How every single thing that he has identified as weakness in
Gandalf turned out to be a strength. I think he really *despises*
Gandalf (and loves, and hates him).

yeah he’s definitely very obsessed with gandalf too, i think precisely for the reasons you enumerate!
