andie, she/her, 26, united states. this blog is full of Tolkien. also other art, photos, fandoms, and big-eyes-emoji stuff, but mostly Tolkien. i tag! my girlfriend is bright ivanaskye, who is a lot, but not too much
it also doesn’t have efts, which if you didn’t know (I didn’t) are teenage terrestrial newts who are too cute to be real
as in, so cute and tiny and bright orange that I thought one was a toy first until it moved
waterfalls
also shale. shale is a good rock
sea level is weird and fake and there’s a lot of air in the air, which means that even “strenuous” things can be recovered from in like ten seconds at most
humidity is real
it apparently makes cars frost a little bit with… car-dew? I don’t understand
I recognize almost literally 0 of these trees
I am trying to learn though, and when I looked it up, apparently here there’s things like elm and ash and hawthorn and freakin’ sassafrass… all things I’ve heard of, because the east has irritating cultural dominance over the rest of the country, but have not “actually” “seen”
although based on what little I did manage to learn I may have successfully identified one (1) hawthorn today
there are so many squirrels
and relatedly, so many acorns
did you know acorns fall from trees and make sounds while they move through the branches?
also bugs make more sounds here than out west, even in the daytime
giant millipede
slightly different chipmunk with much smaller tail
the trees are like, almost all deciduous. the seasons are going to feel cartoonish, again bc eastern cultural dominance, little kids are taught about seasons as they present out here rather than. yknow. where they actually live
I’m really bitter abt that you guys
but it’s actually nice out here
just pls guys do us a favor and learn as much about the West as we’re forced to learn about you, I’m begging you,
There are these little tiny fuzzy bugs that are flying around my pear tree and I kind of want to call them cute but I feel like the second I do someone’s gonna tell me they’re like the spawns of satan and they sting people and kill my trees
Nevermind they’re called “Woolly Aphids” and they’re literal fairies
I feel bad for calling them evil now they’re so frickin cute
i saw one and nearly shat myself thinking it was a fairy
