vardasvapors:

I don’t headcanon this or anything, because it doesn’t fit him or the Lothlorien chapters in LOTR at all, the ancient isolated forest of the silvan elves  etc, but what if Haldir the elf from Lothlorien was named after Haldir the human of the house of Haleth. It could happen. Maybe Amdir or Amroth knew original Haldir back in Beleriand and later on was like a super good friend of Lothlorien Haldir and his brothers’ parents or something. Anyway elves being named after humans is a good idea.

Oh yeah this was the passage I was vaguely thinking of:

“And amid the tale of defeats of that time the deeds of the Haladin are remembered with honour: for after the taking of Minas Tirith the Orcs came through the western pass, and maybe would have ravaged even to the mouths of Sirion; but Halmir lord of the Haladin sent swift word to Thingol, for he had friendship with the Elves that guarded the borders of Doriath. Then Beleg Strongbow, chief of the march-wardens of Thingol, brought great strength of the Sindar armed with axes into Brethil; and issuing from the deeps of the forest Halmir and Beleg took an Orc-legion at unawares and destroyed it.”
