More Tolkien-inspired artwork to celebrate my 20th anniversary today. Have some Éowyn and Faramir (who else?), painted between 1999 and 2007.

Peter Jackson’s Faramir isn’t my Faramir. There’s something about him as a character that really repels me, and the pallid, aimless fatalist is definitely not the dúnadan I see in the book. (As an aside, I think Orlando Bloom, who originally auditioned for Faramir, would have been better suited to the role – better than David Wenham, and better than he was as Legolas.)

When I get really desperate about film!Faramir, I always go back to Anke Eissmann’s paintings. They capture everything Peter Jackson missed.

Oh wow, thanks a lot. Glad to be of service to help you recover from Filmamir ;). Needless to say I share your sentiments about how he was portrayed. I have a lot of issues with the LotR films, but this about the biggest and the one that hurts most, even after so many years.

All chance of great deeds by Ink-Yami

Some of the drawings I did for my annual requests marathon at my russian blog
Normally I don’t post any of those anywhere except VK and Tumblr (idk, I can never bring myself to see such tradigital as a finished work), but, since there is not much of good drawings I could post, and since I like this one for now… Might as well post it there)
Also, LotR feels and an urge to finally draw Éowyn!)

I do not offer you my pity. For you are a lady high and valiant and have yourself won renown that shall not be forgotten; and you are a lady beautiful, I deem, beyond even the words of the Elven-tongue to tell. And I love you. Once I pitied your sorrow. But now, were you sorrowless, without fear or any lack, were you the blissful Queen of Gondor, still I would love you. Eowyn, do you not love me?
