When I was a kid, I lived somewhere those grew wild. (NorCal up by the Oregon border, for the record.) Hell with the scrambled eggs; just sauté a slab of it in butter or olive oil.

Unfortunately, my family has since sold the property. And the puffballs. And my childhood.

There are so many wildly creative visual Tolkien interpretations out there, now I’m wondering what would happen if someone decided to go full WWI with their orc design. Mud and spikes and shapeless gas-mask faces; endless products of a nightmare war machine that seem, horribly, to have once been human.
