How I feel about this character: She’s SO GREAT. Find me another Tolkien character with a more multipurpose yet still fully-executed and satisfying character arc. Go on. I dare u. No one embodies the core of Elves from Hobbits’ POV like her. I’m simultaneously frustrated and enticed by how many times Tolkien changed his mind about how many elements of her story – I love how much ATTENTION he so obviously paid to her, and to so many things about her. Loving detail <3333

My unpopular opinion about this character: I think her screwup/failure in failing to destroy the 19 rings of power when Celebrimbor told her about Sauron etc is really neglected by fandom for something so fascinating and angsty…

These days I don’t hear what narratives are being pushed in the media, I just hear counter-narratives from people on social media and have to piece together the first-order narratives they’re responding to from there.
