as much as I appreciate the fact that there are people in the Silmarillion fandom who are willing to see Melian as more culpable and responsible for various ills than the text seems to indicate, I feel like this comes at the expense of an aspect of Elu’s character that I wish more of us would explore

namely, Elwë Singollo, Monster Fucker

this guy comes upon a minor god in the woods, a god that we aren’t even told is in a recognizable human form, and his innate reaction is “I’d tap that”

then once the enchantment lifts (over them both, not just him) and his free will is back in action they immediately get to babymaking and kingdom building

not only that, it’s his descendants that are interested in interspecies romance

he’s the equivalent of a Tumblr blogger crushing on Venom, only he got his wish

It’s funny how the gross fucking adult-horror trope of ‘creepy children’ whose unsettlingness is treated as real wrongness/horror, and not just the small-minded conformity-brainwashing of the people observing their different-ness, always seem to be a code for the same thing as ‘my autistic kid must be a changeling who isn’t Supposed to be like this so I’m justified in being creeped out by and erasing them’

The same *nudge* ‘creepy, yes? wrong, yes?’ ‘yes, you’re right, they’re wrong. everyone thinks so’ *nods*

I think this is why I was so upset that Charles Wallace’s dissonant serenity and other autistic coding barely made it into the Wrinkle in Time movie. Because he’s like that all the time but he’s nice and brilliant and wonderful, and then when he’s…brainwashed or however you want to frame it (movie went with straight up ‘possessed’) he goes flat and hateful and then it’s disturbing.

I liked a lot of things about that movie, keeping in mind it was very much for children and not for me, but the fact that Charles Wallace’s weirdness was dialed way down because they couldn’t trust audiences to actually like him unless he presented behaviorally as a mostly-normal adorable child made me sad.

it suppose to be just another sketch, but then i understood i wanna  draw it more. now i need time to finish it

I wanted Yavanna look more like classic legendary celtic queen. And Aiwendil like more traditional elvish creature – something magical,but little, because Aiwendil is not from agressive type of maiar like Sauron or Eonwe

I also planning to draw Manwe + Eonwe and Olorin (Gandalf) and Aule + Curumo (Saruman) and Mairon (Sauron). oh god,let it happen >_>
