I still think elrond is a metaphor for the obama presidency

ivanaskye:

He took in Aragorn (DREAMers) at the behest of the Dunedain (Mexicans), while having the help of Glorfindel (the true Progressives of the past) and Erestor (legal exactness). When everything goes to hell because of Sauron (the Tea Party), he starts planning with Galadriel (Angela Merkel) and soon meets the company, including Boromir (the 1%), Legolas (Legolas), and Gandalf (the spirit of George Washington).

It just makes too much sense.

toadschooled:

Here’s something spooky for today! The skeleton of an American toad [Anaxyrus americanus] articulated and on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in DC. The bony projections along the chest are not actually ribs, and in fact, most frogs lack ribs or a diaphragm at all. The shape and weight of ribs against the chest can be a dangerous trait for animals that move by hopping. If they fail to land on their front feet they could easily break their ribs. Therefore most frogs have evolved to not have ribs, while simultaneously improving the mechanisms that allow them to land safely on their front feet after a jump. Image by Flickr user

– Used pillow cases for trick or treat bags

-That one house in the neighborhood that was too scary to go to

– Going trick or treating as soon as the sun went down

– every house in the neighborhood was decorated, and adults would celebrate who’s house scared kids off the most

who’s got more?

The house that handed out fresh fruit, the house that handed out questionable home-made popcorn balls, and the house that handed out full-size candy bars.

Zooming along at high speed because sometimes the other costumes were too scary

Putting on your down puffcoat under your costume because it was 30 degrees but you’d be damned if that stopped you.

“There is something strange at work in this land. I distrust the silence. I distrust even the pale Moon. The stars are faint; and I am weary as I have seldom been before, weary as no Ranger should be with a clear trail to follow. There is some will that lends speed to our foes and sets an unseen barrier before us: a weariness that is in the heart more than in the limb.”
