I’m now so haunted by which possible-follower-of-mine that anon could have been referring to…..I should pay more attention to who follows me????

Very few works of fiction have ever really left an impression on me the way this movie did, especially in its depiction of hope.
That scene at the end, when Vader is slaughtering the rebels and they hand the data plans off as he comes, one by one dying to get it just that much closer to the door and screaming for someone, anyone, to take it and carry it onwards, to carry the galaxy’s one hope even over the corpses of their companions. That scene alone tells more about the nature of war than anything I have ever seen in fiction, and it shows that hope is not something to be idly dreamed of. Hope is something that must be sought out, that appears as the accumulated effort of tens, hundreds, thousands of sacrifices. Hope is gained when people face the coming doom and decide “This doom may take me, but it will not take another”.
And not just hope. Each of their deaths has a personal triumph in it, too:
K-2 protected those he loved;
Chirrut’s faith was rewarded in making it unscathed to the master switch, his love rewarded by Baze’s arms;
Baze comforted Chirrut, got a bit of bloody revenge, and chose his last sight;
Bodhi proved to himself that he was brave enough and that he’d set at least something right;
Cassian laid his guilt to rest and made a real human connection;
and Jyn reconnected to the good in herself, in her parents, and in the Rebellion in general.
I’m too shy to tell your girlfriend since she has anon asks off, and this sounds pathetic or paranoid but I think you have a follower who I’m afraid will judge me if I put my name on a comment, but your art of that book is so fascinating and I read the prologue you linked and it took my breath away……I don’t know where this is going but I hope you pass this comment along to her and say I can’t really handle reading books right now but I want to read that one some time.
omggg anon this is like the cutest thing!!!! and @ivanaskye says also it is the cutest thing and that she’s sorry about anon being off(?). I sympathize with the feeling of really wanting to read something but also just not being able to. And I’m so glad that my dweeby pencil art looked eye-catching and made you check the stars that rise at dawn out or whatever ^_^
I’m um a little concerned about what you say about this person who will judge you (for not being able to handle reading books? or for being interested in this book?) though? I understand how there are people who make you walk on eggshells around them to not offend them or stuff, I’ve had friends like that, but in my experience someone who is that judgy about things you do/like/say/whatever isn’t worth twisting yourself into knots to not offend — not necessarily because ppl who get offended easily are bad or not worth liking or anything, but because you’re probably just delaying the inevitable by trying not to be yourself around them (if that’s what you mean?) Eventually you will offend them no matter how hard you try, probably.
things i’ve learned from nearly 2 years raising garden snails:
– they have best friends
– they’ll go out of their way to sit on their best friends, kiss their best friends, and share lunch with them
– lettuce is to snails what a favorite ball is to a dog
– if ur tasty they’ll give u gentle scrapes
– they are SOCIAL!!!!!
– they all have very distinct personalities and quirks
– they like comfort, they are affectionate
– u can actually tell when a snail is sleepy because they’ll only stick their stalks halfway out and wiggle them gently
– they’re very curious
– they’re very clean and they love maintaining their shells
– cuttlebone YUMMY, make shell BIG
Hello everyone HAVE YOU READ THE STARS THAT RISE AT DAWN by my glorious, beautiful, fierce, sweet, brilliant girlfriend @ivanaskye?? If not you can buy it here, see a promo here, read the prologue here, and download a free prequel short story here! It’s part of a trilogy named Šehhinah (a reference to the RL concept of the manifestation of God’s presence, found in rabbinic texts and, more flexibly/plot-relevantly, in the Qu’ran), which refers to the central magic system (Theurgy) and worldbuilding principle of the series, the physical earthly manifestation of a person’s soul – that of God’s, that of angels’ and demons’, and that of regular humans.
Anyway I decided to draw the three main characters: from left to right there is Yenatru, the incredibly shy and even more incredibly gay faildude who is really good at theurgy but too lame to show people; Tamar, who is So Kink for God’s Fire that she asks God to manifest Their soul in her eyes under the principle of Don’t Stare Directly At The Sun (oops), and Elīya, who is too fixated on Being Right about the minutae of ethics to understand anything about herself or how to live and therefore how to theurge….theurgify…..do theurgy? yeah, since in this particular universe, unlike ours, ethics and spirituality have only interacted like, Twice, in the history of the world, lol.
I also drew the other main character, Lucifer, but they wound up being way too Extra to include here. They need their own post lmao.
real Aksamitka hours
the inside of my brain is just this video playing on loop

Celebrían (and Arwen) requested by anon!
I imagined this scene to be Celebrían brushing Arwen’s hair while she tells her many tales from bygone age, most likely the Lay of Leithian.
Thank you for the request! Hope you like it!
“qualis ubi Oceani perfusus Lucifer unda,
quem Venus ante alios astrorum diligit ignis,
extulit os sacrum caelo tenebrasque resolvit.
–
As when the Dawnbringer,
which Venus loves before the other fires of stars,
bathed in a wave of Ocean,
brings out its holy face in heaven and undoes the darkness.”— Vergil, Aeneid 8.589-91
